Danger or Opportunity?

It is often quoted the chinese symbol for danger also means opportunity.

We’ve been told in research that the symbol is actually not one but 2 symbols made up of 2 words which mean danger/peril and opportunity/crucial point.

Wei + ji = danger + opportunity.

The crisis or crucial point is dangerous and means the situation has reached a difficult point. Yes difficult, dangerous points can mean for us forks in the road leading to opportunity. It implies that we must choose well between the path toward more danger or the path toward more opportunity.

Another Chinese symbol, also meaning crisis, perhaps more accurately describes our situation today.

The symbol for the word zhuan ji means ‘turn into opportunity’ or ‘turn for the better’. We can interpret crisis to mean ‘an opportunity in a time of danger.’

Indeed, the journey we are on as entrepreneurs is a search for direction and action in order to turn our situation into an opportunity for the better!

In this way an entrepreneur in today’s marketplace is a leader who turns today economic crisis into an opportunity for the better. It is an opportunity to make it better by creating value for customers and jobs for employees!
